Still making do

Hey all.  Still making do....I haven't bough a single thing for myself that can't be eaten or consumed in some way.  The hardest things have been a couple of Xbox releases...I so wish I would download a full game.

YouTube - Making do

 Robert Llewellyn is my new hero and has inspired me to follow his lead to make do.  Robert would be best known to you as Kryten from the British Sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf and as the host of Scrapheap Challenge.  As of the start of 2007 Robert is not buying anything new for one year and is documenting his journey with a videoblog on youtube.  

 

As of the start of July I have joined Robert with one small difference.  In my version of making do I will replace items with more environmentally sound options.  I can not see myself buying much at all through this rule but it is needed as I am slowly replace all my animal products to a vegan alternatives.

Safeway update

I am happy to report that Safeway Coburg has returned some of their Vegetarian range. 

First rant

Currently I am very unimpressed with the Coburg Safeway store. The other week I went there and found that they have dropped my favourite vegan burger patties. This week I drive down to pick up some tofu and veggie meats and what do I find? Nothing......no tofu, no veggie meats, none of the products I like to pig out on. I should mention at this point that I am a vegan. I had a chat with the clerk behind the service to desk and found out that some of the lines are no longer on their ordering list. She had no explanation for the absences of the other products.

I guess the veggie market is not profitable enough in Coburg for Safeway to waste valuable fridge space on. I have spoken to other vegans about this. Luckily it seems to be localised to this one store.
